Addresses that were complete (not missing a house number, street name ) were reprocessed using ArcView's Street Map. When sites were based on school locations, either public and private, the day care were moved to these exact points. (School positions already photo identified using 2004 NAIP aerial photography to refine location.) Table was joined to county boundary layer with a spatial join to check for correct county name provided in original data. Descrepencies were identified and corrected. June 2007 Data was copied to a new data frame with a Projection defined as Geographic Coordinates, NAD 1983. Temp file was moved to this data frame. Latitude and Longitude coordinates in table were updated using Hawth's tool Add XY to table and choosing the option to use the coordinates of the data frame. June 2007 Personal geodatabase is exported to shape file. June 2007 Metadata for 2006 day care layer is exported to text. Process steps are added. June 2007 Shape file is copied from temporary workspace into facility directory located at DHSS as M:\GISDATA\FAcility. Shape file from 2006 is renamed from daycare.shp to daycare06.shp. File for 2007 is given the name daycare.shp in its place. June 2007 Shape file is also copied into SDE for use in IMS sites. June 2007 2008 EDITS: Excel file for 2008 day cares received from Section for Child Care Regulation. File is imported into Access database. Table of addresses is gecoded in ArcMap using Centrus Geocoder for ArcGIS into a personal geodatabase file. In Access, geodatabase table from geocoding was saved back into a flat Access table. Records from 2007 with loc_code = MAP are identified. Latitude, longitude and location code columns were edited to match 2007 locations if researched location from 2007 were available, replacing the less accurate geocoded locations. Table of attributes from public schools is imported into Access. Lat/Long coordinates for these facilities were based on photo identified locations on NAIP 2004 aerial imagery. Where day care programs (generally after and before school) were found to be located in a school, coordinates from the school layer were used instead. March, 2008 Table was loaded back into ArcMap and displayed as an XY event. Event file was exported to shape file. County name values were verified to county boundaries using a spatial join in ArcMap and County column edited as necessary to be correct. Names were changed to mixed case in the process. If the location was Centroid only, the county name as reported was retained. If location was either geocode level or map level, county name was changed to be in the correct county. Metadata from 2007 day cares was exported to text and updated for 2008. Metadata in text form imported back into shape file. Shape file from 2008 copied from data development folder into M:\GISDATA\Facility. Previous year was renamed and new file put in its place.
